Montana - 2001

July 19, 2001 - My mom and Dad were spending the summer in Montana.  They took their fifth wheel and parked it at the North Fork.  They wanted to meet Roger.  I had been talking about him a lot.  So, I invited Roger to come to Montana with me and meet my parents.  It was so fun to have him there.
I wanted Roger to go on a walk with me, but he didn't want to.  Because we were in the middle of nowhere and there is lots of wildlife around.  If we ran into an animal, we wouldn't have anything to protect us.  On July 19th, I finally got him to agree to go on a walk with me.  We walked to the end of the driveway and Roger asked what way we should go.  I told him that we should go left, toward the fishing spot.  He looked at me and said, "No.  I think we should 'choose the right."  So, we laughed about that and went to the right.  We walked until the forest became too thick.  Then we headed back toward the cabin.  When we reached the driveway, I convinced Roger to keep walking with me.  I said that we will walk until we reach the fishing spot (where we always turn to go fishing), then we can turn around and head back to the cabin.  He agreed.  We started to walk and we hadn't gotten very far, when a big grizzly bear walked out of the fishing spot and on to the road!  I was sooo.... scared!  The bear walked out to the road and was walking away from us.  I panicked and told Roger that I was going to run.  He told me that I shouldn't.  He reminded me that the bear hadn't even seen us, so we should watch it, the run, when it was out of our sight.    I couldn't control myself.  I told Roger, again, that I was going to run.  I took of running and screaming, "Bear! Bear!"  If the bear hadn't seen us, it for sure would have once I started freaking out.  Roger had no choice but to run after me.  We made it back to the cabin safely.  Thankfully, the bear didn't chase us and kill us.  When we got to the cabin, I, of course, pulled out my video camera so we could tell our story.  These pictures were taken off of the camera, while we were telling our story.

We went to Bowman Lake in the afternoon.  It is such a beautiful lake.  We took my raft and had so much fun.  I did most of the rowing, because I love too.  Roger had the video camera.  He is a dork, like me and was really funny with the camera.  He recorded me rowing and himself talking.  It was a good time!

Here we are later that night.  Just chillin'.  I'm sitting by the fire reading bear attack stories.  I don't know why I like to scare myself like that, but I do.

Roger took a picture of me the next morning while I was making breakfast.
