God, Open Your Door to My Family

This is a poem that Shelley wrote while our mom was sick. I think Shelley has an amazing talent for poetry.
God, Open Your Door to My Family
God of the heavens and stars
in my heart a simple prayer,
I humbly call out to you
to help me from way up there.
It is a personal challenge
that needs your open door,
I pray to you with all my heart
for the courage to endure.
I share the pains of my Mother
who is probably going to die,
she has always been close to me
and I don't want to say goodbye.
Her loving ways are in my heart
and her pains I hate to see,
God, please help us to be strong
when she leaves our family.
Please open your door of heaven
and help us to heal from pain,
when she has to leave us behind
help us to face the fallen rain.

Halloween Fun

Trick-or-Treating was a lot of fun. The kids got a ton of candy! We went to the trunk-or-treat at our church. The kids came home with their pumpkin containers filled almost to the top. Then I told the kids to dump all of their candy out, so we could go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. We went trick-or treating at 6:00pm and came home just a little before 8:00pm. They were able to get their baskets filled almost to the top again. They had so much fun. It was funny, because when we first went out, the kids were racing from house to house and I had a hard time keeping up with them. After a while they started walking from house to house and by the end, I was practically pushing them, telling them "We're almost home." Even though they were so tired at the end, they still asked to go to more houses. But at the rate they were walking, it would have taken us an hour to go down one more street, plus Parker and Brinley weren't even carrying their baskets anymore. They said the baskets were too heavy and had me carry them for them.
