We Got Stuck in Salt Lake Over Night - December 27, 2018

Thursday- December 27, 2018

I woke up this morning and did an insanity work out. It was rough. That workout series is really hard. I'm excited to get strong and get through that program.

I finished crocheting the 2 orders I had on my Etsy store and so I could mail them when we went out and about.
I showered, then Roger and I got ready to go. We headed to Salt Lake so Roger could change the oil in the truck at Dan's shop and I could help Linda go through her stuff and get ready to move.
We stopped at the post office to send out Etsy orders, then maverick to get soda. We ran into Kathy Furhiman and Merikae while we were there. It was fun to visit for a little bit before we headed out.
We had to stop at Walmart on our way, to get oil and a few other things for the house, then we stopped at Chili's for lunch. We used our gift card. The food wasn't bad.
Roger dropped me off at Jenny Springman's house, then he headed to Dan's.
Jenny and I took our time leaving. The was lots of snow, so we shoveled her driveway before we left.
We stopped at Harmon's on the way, so Jenny could get some lunch. Then we drove to Linda's. The roads weren't too bad until we got off the freeway at Lehi. The drive from there to Linda's was bad. The roads were very icy and we kept sliding. Traffic moved very slow and it was scary. We made it to Linda's, but Jenny decided not to stay. She was nervous about driving home on the bad roads and wanted to get home before it got much worse. She made it home safely.
Roger finished up at Dan's and headed to Linda's. He hit some ice on 215 and spun out. He managed to get traction before he crashed into the barrier in the side of the road. He said it was really scary. I was so nervous for him getting here. I'm glad he made it safely.
Shortly after Roger got to Linda's, Dave called. He was on I-15, driving home. He said everybody started to slow down because there were 2 accidents. One on each side of the road. So, Dave started to slow down, but the car behind him didn't. That car decided not to slow down with everybody else and tried to pass them. He pulled over to the left to pass all the slowing vehicles and crashed into the car accident already on the side of the road. The horrible thing was that there were people out of their cars by this accident and Dave saw this guy get hit. He saw him smash into the windshield, then go flying forward, smashing his face into the ground as his legs swung up behind him, bending in ways they shouldn't. Dave said it was horrible to see. After he got home, we watched the news. It turns out, the guy who got hit was the Draper Fire Chief. They reported that he was in critical condition, but before the end of the news they decided his condition had upgraded and they think he will be okay.
Because the roads are so bad and icy tonight, we decided to sleep at Linda's and drive home in the morning after the sun melts the ice a little better for us. It's dangerous out there.
Our kiddos all stayed home because Kelly was bringing Delia to come and stay for a few days. So, even though I know they don't like it when we aren't there at night, the distraction of having Delia there is making it better.

Here's a link to the News story about the accident Dave saw: KSL News.  They said that he got pinned between 2 vehicles, which wasn't what happened.  Eventually they started reporting it correctly, that he got hit, flew through the air and landed hard.

After Christmas Blues - December 26, 2018

Wednesday - December 26th

I felt a little down in the dumps today. I don't know why I had the blues so bad, but Roger and I took a long walk and did a lot of talking and I feel a lot better now. We are going to start going back to church. He's going to tell his boss he can't work on Sundays any more.
While we were out walking we did a little jogging. It felt so good to jog outside. I want took do more of that. I'm going to start jogging in the evenings, before it gets dark.

Merry Christmas 2018

Tuesday - December 25th

The kids said it wad the best Christmas ever. I stayed up really late, wrapping a ton of gifts I got from Linda's over the weekend. The kids weren't expecting much, but they got a lot, since Linda was getting rid of so much. It was fun to surprise them with more gifts than they were expecting.

Christmas Eve - December 24, 2018

Monday - December 24th

This morning it didn't really feel like Christmas eve. I was still at Linda's. We waited a while before my dad gave me a ride home, because the was a storm, but it was supposed to be short and clear up soon.
My dad gave me a ride home so I could take all the things I wanted to give as gifts with me. I couldn't have done that on the Frontrunner.
It was a nice drive. I got to talk to my dad about how was feeling about religion and life. It really helped to talk it through with him. I'm ready to go back to church.
When I got home, everybody was happy. They all said it didn't feel like Christmas eve without me. I felt the same.
After my dad left, I got you work cleaning the house and making it feel like Christmas. It felt good to be home and making the house feel good. We had a fun Christmas eve. I made snickerdoodles and sugar cookies (because we couldn't all agree on one cookie). The cookies were yummy. I used the convection oven. I haven't mastered the art of using it yet. The snickerdoodles were under cooked and the sugar cookies were over cooked. The kids opened their pajamas and treat.

I bought pajamas for me this year too. Roger didn't want any pajamas. I made him go put on a shirt the same color as ours, so we could take a family photo. I set the camera up with the timer, so it would snap the picture for us. We had fun trying to get a good picture.

After opening gifts, we watched the Muppet's Christmas Carol. Roger turned on his tablet and let us watch the deleted scene (when it got to that point) on there.

After the movie, we were all tired, so we went to bed. I had a headache and wanted to go to bed, but couldn't sleep all night because I needed to wrap gifts. I tried you take a nap to get rid of my headache, but that didn't work. It was too hard to fall asleep. My head hurt a lot and just got worse as I wrapped presents. It was a rough night getting Christmas ready, but I did it. And it was worth it. I took headache medicine before I went to bed and woke up feeling much better.

Chicken Dinner at Linda's - December 23, 2018

Sunday- December 23rd

I woke up right before Linda, Dave, and dad went to church. I packed linen in boxes while they were gone.
When Linda got home, we went to the store so she could buy what she needed to make the chicken dinner tonight.  We also bought ourselves some yummy green onion cheeseball.  Linda introduced me to this yummy cheeseball.  I love it.  My eyes have been opened to the possibility that there are more cheeseballs in the world that I will enjoy.  I don't have to stick with one recipe only.  There are many yummy cheeseballs.
We ate green onion cheese ball and started watching battle of the bulbs ( a cheesy hallmark movie).  Kristin put a Christmas sweater on Cupcake.  She looked too cute, so I had to take a picture.
We stopped halfway through, because Dave's sister came to help clean and pack stuff. We cleaned up and moved more stuff. While we were doing that, Jenny Springman came. I went with her to get lunch, then we came back to help clean and organize.
5pm is when our chicken dinner get together started.  We ate yummy food, then did the nut in the pudding. Kristin won.

After that, we sat in the living room and sang Christmas songs.  Linda pulled up Christmas karaoke videos on YouTube.  It was a little awkward at first, so I helped by being embarrassing.  I scared the dog really bad, when I joined in by singing loud and scary. Lol.  Everybody got a good laugh and the dog stayed away from me for a little while.  It was funny.  I did some more weird stuff to help keep things light and fun.  I guess I don't really like it when things get too serious.  I had the idea that we could act out the songs we were singing.  I came up with that at the start of 'Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer'.  Dave said, "You be grandma.  I'll be the reindeer."  Them he came charging at me.  It was pretty funny.
After singing a few songs, we decided to watch our old Christmas contest videos. That was fun.
It was a good night.  I just wish Roger and my kiddos had been here with us.  It's weird to be here with out my little family.
Parker sent me these cute pictures of our doggies.

Helping Linda Move - December 22, 2018

Saturday, December 22nd

I spent the day going through Linda's stuff and helping to clean. She is giving away a lot of stuff and it was hard to not take it. So, I'm going home with a lot of stuff. Linda was like, "Great. Now we have to give Jenny a ride home." Since I have too much stuff to take on the Frontrunner. Lol.
My sisters Missy and Shelley came over to help also.  Missy and I were trying to remember these Smurf songs we used to listen to when we were little.  I have searched a few times before this and have not been able to find them.  We were finally able to find them today.  We found them on YouTube.  At first, I found one of the songs, but the words had been changed.  It was really hard to find the original.  They changed the words from "We don't believe in school days, we want more Sundays.  We don't believe in school days, Sundays are fun days." to "We don't believe in Sundays, we want more school days.  We don't believe in Sundays, school days are fun days."  I was quite appalled to hear that.  The original is the truth.  We don't like school days.
Anyway, it was really fun to find the songs on YouTube and it was fun to reminisce. I saved a playlist on YouTube here.
Another thing from our childhood that came up was our Grandpa Time clock.  It was Kristy's clock, but she shared it with us.  Grandpa Time would read us stories each night and tell us when it was time for bed.  I probably only brushed my teeth each night, because Grandpa Time told me to.  We loved Grandpa Time.  Click here to see some YouTube videos we found of the stories he used to read us.  When we started cleaning again after talking, we found Grandpa Time.

Elizabeth came over to get some stuff, then I went with her and Kristin to Walmart. I bought stocking stuffers and pajamas for Christmas eve. I feel better about having what we need for Christmas now.
Linda's neighbor brought us pizza for our dinner. We ate that and watched Mama Mia 1 and 2. My dad is here. He ordered them. I loved those movies.  I love Abba and it was really fun to hear and see the songs used in a musical.  It was hard not to cry at the end of the last one where she is missing her mom, who had passed away.
Lizzy put Cupcake in this little bassinet.  It was cute, but hard to get a good picture of her.

Roger said there was an accident at his work today. I'm curious to ask him about it.

Kristen's Birthday - December 21, 2018

Friday - December 21st

It's my niece, Kristin's, 22nd birthday. I woke up early to get Alissa off to school. Parker stayed home, since they only had a half day and weren't doing any work. Brinley didn't go either, but she didn't stay home. She stayed the night at Khloe's house.
I took a nap after Alissa went to school. Parker took some pictures of the doggies and I napping.
When I woke up, I packed my bag, did my hair, and got ready to go before it was time to pick up Alissa from school. I picked Alissa up at noon. Tonya came home with her. After we got home, Roger woke up and it was time to go. Brinley stayed at Khloe's and Parker stayed home with the doggies. Alissa, Tonya, Roger, and I went to Ogden to take Alissa to the orthodontist. After her appointment, we went to Costco to get some things, then they dropped me off at the Frontrunner.
It was weird riding it alone. I like it better when all the kids are with me. This weekend will be weird without them.
I came to Linda's to help her clean and pack for her move to Florida. I really don't want her to move. I'm excited for her, but bummed for us. I hope they move back soon, but I don't know if that will happen. Elizabeth is pregnant and they are going to be grandparents this summer. I hope that will bring them back. Anyway, so, I'm here without my Roger and kiddos. I wish they were here.
I listened to a podcast while I rode the Frontrunner. It helped the time to go by fast. After I got to Linda's, we loaded into the jeep to go out to eat for Kristin's birthday. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings. Roger and I went there the other day and really didn't like the food we had. This time, I tried a burger. It was much yummier than I expected. It was a cheese curd cheeseburger. It was really good. Linda ordered the food I had ordered the other day (I should have warned her, but I was too focused on deciding what I wanted to eat and didn't pay attention to what she was ordering), she really didn't like her food.
The waitress took our order, then we waited and waited.......... and waited. The table next to us, got seated after us and was halfway finished eating their dinner when I realized we must have been forgotten or something. I went to find out what was going on and let them know we were still there. The waitress came over and apologized. She said another waitress (who was new) gave our food to another table. She said she put our order in again and they were making it a priority. Linda needed to get to Costco before they closed so she could get Kristin's cake.  Dinner was taking much longer than expected, so she decided to hurry over to Costco while we waited for our food. Lizzy went with her. The food came about 10 minutes after they left. Except for my food, it took another 10 minutes to get done. The waitress apologized and asked if everything looked okay. We said yes, but after she left, I realized they had gotten my order wrong. I had asked for no onions on my burger and onion rings on the side instead of fries. There were onions on my burger and fries on the side. I was tired of waiting for my food and at least I had my burger. The onions were easy to take off, so I decided not to say anything. We were there for ever because of the mix up.  I didn't want to make us wait even longer for them to get my order right.
After dinner, we came to Linda's, sang the happy birthday song to Kristin, and ate cake and ice cream.
Then we watched elf. That always makes me laugh. I was tired and started to fall sleep during the movie. I sent goodnight messages to the kiddos at 9:30. I was surprised to find out they were all in bed already. Roger had texted around 7:30 that he was going to bed, so I knew he was asleep already. I just thought the kids would have stayed up late. Alissa called and told me they were all in bed and she didn't feel well. She had a tummy ache so she was going to bed.
Anyway, I'm in bed now. Jenny Springman just called. We had plans this weekend, but they changed since I was coming here and she was going to spend a day at Bear Lake, visiting her sister.
She just called to say her plans changed again and she wanted to know what I was doing. I told her I will be cleaning and packing tomorrow. She knew we were having fried chicken on one of the days this weekend, because I had invited her already. I invited her to come help us tomorrow, but she said, "Uhhhh... When are you having fried chicken?" I told her Sunday. She said, "I'll just come then." We had a good laugh over that. I'm pretty sure it doesn't sound funny written out, but they way she said it was funny. Too bad you couldn't be a part of the conversation and hear it, because it really was funny. Lol.
