Brinley's Kindergarten Shots - August 31, 2011

Wednesday - August 31, 2011
Brinley had to get her shots today, since it is necessary for her to start school.  Even though we are doing homeschooling.  We are trying out the K12 program.  K12 is a public online school.  Because it's a public school they give you all the books and supplies to use for free.  I'm super excited about it.
Anyway, so Brinley survived getting her shots.  But her body didn't like it.  She had a yucky reaction to the shots.  Her leg swelled up extra big.  Her leg was hard as a rock also.  Poor girl.  We took her back to the doctor and they gave her some medicine to help her recover from her yucky shots.

Trying to Be a Morning Person is Hard - August 29, 2011

Monday - August 29th

I had a hard time waking up this morning.  My alarm went off at 4:45am and again at 5:00am.  I ended up getting out of bed at 5:40am.  I have felt exhausted all day.  When I am tired and hot, I tend to get headaches.  So, I've had a headache today.  I started putting the kids to bed at 8:00pm, so I could go to bed also.  It's 9:05pm now.  Parker's in bed, probably asleep already.  Alissa's in my room watching tv, because Brinley is being a stinker.  Brinley is in her bed crying and screaming.  I told the kids they could each choose 2 books for me to read to them before bed.  They all sat nicely while I read Brinley's books, then Parker's books.  After I finished reading Parker's books, Parker got mad.  He had brought 4 books down and he wanted me to read another one of his.  He got mad and yelled at me.  I told him that he needed to calm down if he wanted to hear Alissa's books or he needed to go to bed so I could read to Alissa and Brinley.  He calmed down a little, then grabbed a hold of the blanket that we had been sharing.  He covered himself with it.  As he did that, it took some of the blanket off of Brinley.  Brinley got mad and pulled the blanket towards her.  Brinley and Parker wouldn't stop fighting over the blanket and my headache was getting worse and worse, so I told the kids they needed to just go to bed.  Since Alissa didn't get to hear her books be read, I told her that tomorrow night, she can choose 4 books to read.  Then Brinley got mad.  She said, "But that's not fair!  I want to pick 4 books also!"  I explained that it is fair since Alissa didn't get to have any of her books read tonight.
We went up to bed.  I tucked Alissa in bed, then asked Brinley to lay down so I could tuck her in.  She refused.  I needed to use the bathroom, so I told her that I would be right back.  When I walked out of the room, Brin started screaming, "But I want you to put my covers on me!"  I told her that I couldn't yet, because I needed to use the bathroom.  While I was in the bathroom, Brinley started yelling, "I hate you mom!"  That really breaks my heart to hear her say that.  I know that she doesn't really understand what she is saying.  I remember yelling that to my mom when I was a kid also.  I remember that I was just angry and when I said that, I was just trying to get them to realize how mad I really was.  Roger went in to talk to Brinley about how hurtful the words she was saying were.  He took her computer and outside privileges away for tomorrow.  She's been in her room crying and screaming ever since.  It's 9:28pm now.  I don't like having to deal with this kind of behavior.  I really hope Brinley grows out of throwing these temper tantrums soon.
It's 10:04pm.  Brinley is finally asleep.  I talked to Brinley.  She calmed down and apologized to me.  then Brinley, Alissa, and I snuggled and talked until Brinley fell asleep.  I love snuggling and talking with the kids.  so, I'm feeling much happier now.  My head isn't aching as bad either.

This morning I laid in bed, struggling to get up.  I was too comfy.  After I woke up, I read my scriptures while Alissa watched home videos.  We ate scrambled eggs and cinnamon muffins.  The kids watched outside, hoping to see Erin and run out and walk her to school this morning.  It was the first day of school, so I knew her mom would be walking with her.
I called and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Wilding for Brinley to get her ear looked at and for her to get her immunizations.  Her appointment was at 10:20am.  She had an ear infection and the doctor gave her an antibiotic to make it better.  Brinley had to get 3 shots.  she did not handle that very well.  We had to hold her down and she screamed the whole time.  It was a lot easier for her to get shots when she was younger.  She handled it a lot better then.
After the appointment, we went to Walmart and did a small shopping trip.  We came home, made lunch, and I've been extremely tired ever since.  I'm starting a new babysitting job in the morning.  I'll be watching Hannah, 8 years old, and Tanner, 5 years old.  They'll be here at 6:30am.  I'll be watching them in the morning, until school starts, then I'll make sure they get to school.  I think my kids will love walking with them to school.  They stopped by after school today, to make sure we were still planning to watch them.  I think this will be a good babysitting job.

A Nice Night - August 28, 2011

Sunday - August 28th

I spent a lot of time trying to organize things for my scrapbooking today.  I love reminiscing!  After looking at pictures, I went up to my room and read some of my old journals.  I love reading those and remembering things that I had forgotten.  I'm so glad I kept those.  I decided that I want to start writing in my journal all the time again.  I'm going to start tonight.

We decided to homeschool the kids this year.  I'm excited and nervous!  It seems so odd to me... the public school starts tomorrow.  It is so weird to not have to worry about getting the kids to school in the morning.  It's kind of nice.  We let the kids stay up until 9:00pm tonight and we spent some time playing in the front yard in the dark.  It felt so nice.  There was a storm off in the distance and we watched the clouds lighting up from the lightening strikes.

After the kids were in bed, I smelled smoke.  I wondered, if we went outside, would we be able to see a fire on the mountain.  so, I asked Roger to come outside with me to see.  We didn't see any fire.  It was really dark outside tonight and it felt really scary.  Roger started to tease me because I was scared.  We ended up racing back to the house.  It was fun.  I love laughing and playing with Roger.  We have so much fun together.

I'm planning on changing my habits.  I've decided that I want to be a morning person.  I am going to start waking up at 5:00am and going to bed at 8:00pm.  I failed at going to bed early tonight, but that is because I slept in and took a nap today.  It's 11:48pm right now.  I'm going to be tired tomorrow, but I won't let myself take a nap.  I'm determined to change my schedule.  I know I can do it!  I'm kind of excited about the challenge of making this change.  I'm trying to get Alissa to be a morning person also.  She's excited about it.  I just need to stay positive so she can make this change also.  Parker has always been a morning person, just like his dad.  Brinley can go either way.  Parker usually wakes her up and she doesn't seem to mind that, but if her doesn't wake her up, she will sleep in almost as long as Alissa.

The kids are all doing well, except my little Brinley has an earache that has been bothering her since Friday night.  I plan to get her in to see the doctor tomorrow.  Roger doesn't think we'll be able to get in to see the doctor tomorrow.  He thinks we should go to Bear Lake, since we haven't been yet this year.  So, we'll see what happens tomorrow.  Maybe we'll be able to do both.

Swimming at Cherry Hill - August 20, 2011

Saturday - August 20, 2011
We went swimming at Cherry Hill for our last time this year.  Roger really dislikes this place, but I love it.  I think it is a lot of fun and the kids love it.  He just thinks that it is not worth the money.  He says that we will never pay to go to this place.  So, I had to tell the kids this was our last time of going here.  Hopefully, I will be able to convince Roger to take us here again sometime in the future.  I think he just needs some time to forget that he doesn't like it.  Wish me luck.  Or...... Maybe we'll get lucky and win some free tickets again.

Swimming in the Backyard - August 17, 2011

Wednesday - August 17, 2011
We set up the pools in the backyard today.  Erin came over to play for a while also.  I enjoyed relaxing, reading a book, and sitting on the bench swing in the backyard while the kids played.  Roger had a lot of fun chasing the kids and spraying them with the hose.  It was funny to watch them all play.  I made sure to keep the camera and my phone with me so that Roger wouldn't try and spray me.

Babysitting - August 15, 2011

Monday - August 15, 2011
Mikenna and her baby brother Braxin came over to be babysat today.  Brinley was really happy about that.  she loves to have Mikenna over to play.  They had a lot of fun playing dress up while she was here.  Alissa loved playing with baby Braxin.  He is almost 3 months old and he is such a cutie.

Alissa's 9th Birthday! - August 13, 2011

Saturday - August 13, 2011
I can't believe Alissa is 9 years old already.  She is really growing up way too fast.
This morning, the kids woke up and enjoyed the decorations for a little bit, then we headed over to the school to participate in a service project with our ward.  We gathered food to deliver to the food bank.  But we did it in a fun way.  We pulled handcarts to gather the food and deliver it to the Food Bank in the center of town.  It was kinda fun.  Definitely something different and out of the ordinary.  It was kind of a fun way to start our day.

Alissa invited Erin over to help her decorate her cake for her Birthday Party.  We planned a swimming party for her birthday.  We did that last year also.  Swimming parties are just really fun.  we set up all the pools in the front yard and the kids spend the majority of the party playing in the pools.  Alissa wanted a Hannah Montana Guitar for her Birthday cake this year, so that's how they're decorating it.  They had fun and they did a pretty good job.
