Christmas 2002

Tuesday - December 24, 2002
We had a really nice relaxing and enjoyable night.  We opened our Christmas pajamas.  I made matching pajamas for each of us.  We took a short video of us on Christmas eve, we took a family picture in front of the tree, I gave Alissa a bath, we put her to bed, then relaxed for a little bit before going to bed ourselves.  Here is our Christmas Eve video.

Roger was a stinker and couldn't wait until tomorrow morning to open his gift from me and Alissa, so he opened it tonight.  I stayed up late many many nights working on this quilt for Roger.  I worked on it while he was at work.  He almost found it once, before Christmas.  I had it hidden in Alissa's closet because he never looks in there, but for some reason he looked in there.  He didn't even notice it.  I had it covered up with something else, but I was quite relieved that he didn't find it.  He loved it!
I took video of Christmas day, but for some reason I can't find it or part of it got erased.  I can't quit figure out what went wrong.
We had a fun morning at home, then headed to Salt Lake in the evening to go to the Moser Family Christmas party.  They always have their party on Christmas day.  It was fun to see everybody.

Bone Family Christmas Party - December 21, 2002

Saturday - December 21, 2002
We went to the Bone Family Christmas party today.  Today is also Kristin's birthday, so we got to celebrate that too.  Santa Claus came and the kids got to have their picture taken with him.  I didn't have my camera or my camcorder, so I didn't get any pictures, but Kari did.  She sent me these pictures.  There is Alissa with Santa and a picture with Me and Kristy and our cute little girls, Alissa and Kaylie.

The Cutest Little Girl Ever! - December 11, 2002

Wednesday - December 11, 2002
I keep trying to get Alissa to say "mama" or laugh for the camera.  She's never said "mama" before, but it's fun to try.  I just think Alissa is way too cute.  I can't get enough of her.  We got her to do a little tiny laugh for the camera, so that was exciting.  Before we turned on the camera she was laughing.  Every time we try to record it, she calms down and we can't get her to laugh.  Here is the video from today.

Alissa's First Laugh - December 10, 2002

Tuesday - December 10, 2002
Alissa laughed for the first time today!  We were so excited.  Her daddy was playing with her and it made her laugh.  I pulled out the camera, hoping that I could get her to laugh again, but... no luck.  It didn't happen.
Alissa is 3 months old.  She loves to go out and about and see things.  She likes it when I hold her facing outward so she can see everything.  It makes her coo, that's how I know she likes it.
Alissa doesn't like binkies.  I keep trying to get her to take one, but she refuses.  She likes to suck on things, especially her hand.  She doesn't suck her thumb.  She just sucks on her whole hand.  Her thumb is always tucked into her fist.
She loves to kick her feet and splash when she takes a bath.  She doesn't like to get out of the bath.  That makes her cry.  I'm guessing it is because it is cold when you first get out of the warm water.  Here is the video I took today.

Alissa's First Vacation - December 5 - 6, 2002

Thursday - December 5th
We went to the Jelly Belly Factory.  They have a tour so you can see how they make Jelly Bellies.  Since it's Christmas time, Santa Claus was there.  So Alissa got to sit on Santa's lap for the first time.  My favorite thing about the Jelly Belly Factory is the belly flops.  You can buy big bags of Jelly Bellies for a good price, but they are called Belly Flops because they are the Jelly Bellies that got messed up while being made.  They are either oddly shaped or a couple of Jelly Bellies stuck together. I love Jelly Bellies!

Friday - December 6th
I didn't take very many pictures or video of our trip.  I remembered right before it was time to leave.  As we were packing up our stuff, I had Roger pull out the camcorder and take some video so we could remember our fun little vacation.  We had a lot of fun.  My favorite part of the vacation was the time we spent playing games with Kelly.  She had a large collection of fun games to play.  There were sooo many!  A lot of games that I had never heard of.  The one that made me laugh the most was a game called Fluxx.  I loved it so much, we went and bought it so we could play it at home.  Roger doesn't normally like to play those kind of games, but he said that he had a lot of fun.
We woke up, packed our things and headed home today.  These two pictures were taken right before we left.  Kelly got a puppy.  She named him Archie.  Archie and Alissa didn't really get a long.  Every time I laid Alissa down in her play pen, Archie would run at her and park, which would of course make her cry and make Archie bark even more.  Archie is a cute fun puppy.  We had a lot of fun on our visit.  We took this video before we left.

Alissa's Baby Blessing - December 1, 2002

Sunday - December 1, 2002
We blessed our little 'lissa today!  Aunt Kristy let her wear the same dress that cousin Kaylie was blessed in.  She looked so cute!  Alissa cried through the whole blessing.  I knew she would because I thought that she wouldn't like all of the people crowding around her.
After the blessing we invited everybody to come to our little home for food and to visit.  Our home isn't very big, but it is bigger than the last place we lived.  It is nice to be able to invite people over.
Here is a video of the get together after the blessing.

We went to Walmart to have family pictures taken.  I just can't remember what day we went and has this done, so I am going to share this picture here.  I know it was sometime near this date that we had the picture taken.

Happy Thanksgiving! - November 28, 2002

Thursday - November 28, 2002
We had my family come over for Thanksgiving.  It was very exciting to get to be the host for the first time.  It was also very overwhelming.  I was so worried that I would ruin something.  My biggest worry was the turkey.  I found some oven bags and planned to follow the directions on the bag.  My mom had never heard of these bags.  She always did her turkey with out the bag and would have to start it cooking really early in the morning for it to be done on time.  But the according to the directions on the oven bag, the turkey only needs to be in the oven for 3 hours.  My mom kept worrying that the turkey might not be ready, which made me extremely worried.  This was the first time I have ever prepared turkey and I was extremely nervous that I would gum it up.  Thankfully, the turkey was ready in time and it tasted wonderful.  My mom was so impressed, she said that she would probably use an oven bag the next time she prepares a turkey.  I feel like everything went really well.  Our house is small, so we were a little squished, but nobody seemed to mind.  I didn't take very many pictures because I was too busy being the host.  It was quite stressful, but also fun and very rewarding.  I think I really like to be the host.  Here are the very few pictures that were taken.  I took the video camera out and recorded for just a minute and that's were these pictures came from.  This is our Thanksgiving video.

Alissa had her Shots - November 22, 2002

Alissa had her shots on Wednesday the 20th.  After the first shot she smiled and acted like whatever, but after the 2,3,and 4th she was not a happy camper.  That night after she had her shots, Roger and I went on our first date, since Alissa was born.  We went to a hockey game and left her at the Vanbibber’s to be babysat.  It was probably terrible timing for us to leave her for the first time, when she had to have shots that day.  But, it just worked out that way and we were desperate to go on a date.  We knew that she was in good hands and would be well taken care of.
Also, we think Alissa will be left handed, because she grabs everything with her left hand.  Here is the video we took today.

We moved! - November 16, 2002

Saturday - November 16, 2002
Alissa is 3 months old now!  I can't believe how fast she is growing.  Alissa is starting to coo and make cute sounds like she is trying to talk to us.  I love it!
We moved into our new apartment.  It is the four-plex that Caroline and Scott Wilding had been living in.
I'm not a morning person and Roger is.  This is a picture of me taken from a video that Roger took of me and Alissa first thing in the morning.  Here is the video.

Halloween 2002

Thursday - October 31, 2002
It's Halloween!  Roger and I watched a couple of movies, then pulled out the video camera to make a video of our cute little Alissa.  We still don't have any friends here in Brigham City, so we get bored a lot.  When ever we're bored, I think, "Let's make a video!"  I don't know why I think like that, but I just do.
I had this cute Halloween outfit for Alissa to wear today, but I forgot to wash it.  So she didn't get to wear her cute little Halloween stuff.  Bummer!
Roger was playing church basketball the other day and ended up hurting his toe.  Another guy ran into him and rammed into his toe.  Now his toenail is barely hanging on.  That is why there is a picture of a foot in with our Halloween photos.  Here is the video I took of our not so eventful Halloween.

These pictures weren't taken on Halloween.  I'm not sure what day we took these.  I just posted them with this, because Alissa is wearing her cute little Halloween outfit, that she didn't get to wear on Halloween.  The top picture was taken while we were hanging out at my friend Jamie's house.  The other two were taken at the VanBibber's home.  There is Alissa with her cousin Missy.  So cute!

Some Firsts For Alissa - October 30, 2002

Wednesday - October 30, 2002
Today Alissa got to experience snow for the first time!  Roger and I bundled her up and we walked across the street to the church parking lot with her.  She's too little to really enjoy it, but still, we showed it to her.  Roger threw a tiny snowball at her and at me.  Then I threw a little snow back at him.  We had our first family snowball fight!  Of course, we hurried and wiped the snow off of Alissa's shirt as soon as it hit her.  And we couldn't run around, because we were holding a little baby.  But it was still fun to go out and be in the snow for a little bit with our new little baby girl.  Being parents is exciting.  There are so many firsts for us to experience.  Here is the video I took of Alissa's first snow and pickle.
After we played in the snow, we went inside and decided it would be funny to experience another first.  I was eating some pickles and I thought it would be funny to see Alissa's face when I shared some with her.  It was funny!  Poor little girl.  She was looking at us like, "What are you doing to me?"  The funny thing is that now Alissa loves pickles and can't seem to get enough of them.  She even drinks the pickle juice when the pickles are all gone.

Alissa Faces - October 29, 2002

Tuesday - October 29, 2002
Alissa is 2 1/2 months old.  She smiles now and she makes the cutest little face.  I call it the pucker up face, because she puckers her lips and just relaxes with her face in that position.  It is too cute!  Every time she does it, I think about how I need to get a picture of her making that face.  I keep trying to get a picture of it, but she never does it when the camera is rolling.  Tonight while Roger was at work, I entertained myself by trying to get a video of her making that face or at least smiling.  Here are some pictures and here is the video.

Just Chillin' - October 26, 2002

Saturday - October 26, 2002
My friend Jamie and her husband Kirk came to visit.  Kirk wanted to sew his own Halloween costume.  Since, they don't have a sewing machine, he brought his sewing project to our house.  I'm not sure what his costume was, because, I only got to see part of it.  It was either a wizard, the Grimm reaper, or the spooky scream guy.  The part of the costume I saw, was the big black gown.
While he was sewing, Jamie took a video of me and Alissa.  Alissa likes it when I hold her up and let her stand.  I'm amazed at how strong her little legs are.  That's pretty much the whole video.  Here are some pictures and a video.

Cute Little 'Lissa - September 21, 2002

Saturday - September 21, 2002
It's my sister, Kelly's Birthday today!  Happy Birthday Kelly!
Here are some more pictures of my cute, cute, cute little Alissa.  She really is so precious.  Everything she does is just adorable to me.  She is amazing!  I love her so much!
If you notice, these pictures were taken in the middle of the night.  Roger works the grave yard shift.  I've been on Roger's sleeping schedule for a while, so we can have more time with each other.  Also, since we are not from Brigham City, we don't have any friends here.  We've tried to make friends, but apparently, it is not easy to make friends in a small town.  I'm trying to get back to a regular schedule, so that Alissa's sleeping habits won't be all confused.  Tonight, I decided to stay up late and hang out with Roger.  That's why we have the pictures of our little Alissa in the middle of the night. Here is a short video of my cute little sleeping baby.

Baby Shower - September 14, 2002

Saturday - September 14, 2002
Due to my appendix rupturing and causing Alissa's early arrival, we were unable to have a baby shower before Alissa was born.  So on September 14th when Alissa was 1 month old we got to go to a baby shower for us.  We had it at the church that is next to the house I grew up in.  My family wasn't living there at the time, but that is the area where my friends all still lived.  Here are the pictures from the  baby shower and a really long video.

Patriot's Day - September 11, 2002

Wednesday - September 11, 2002
Last year on this day:  I was living in an apartment with my friend, Emily.  I had just gotten engaged a few weeks ago and in preparation for my upcoming marriage, I was moving out of our apartment and going to live at my sister, Kari's house until Roger and I got married.
So, I woke up and got straight to work.  Roger called me, shortly after I had started.  He said, "You have got to turn on the tv.  You will not believe what's happening.  An airplane has crashed into the World Trade Center."  I turned on the tv and began my day of packing with moments of staring in disbelief at what I was seeing on the tv.  I really didn't know what to think of all of that.  I didn't want to let myself really think about what was happening.  I might have started to panic and worry that something was going to happen where we live.  It took quite a few days for all of it to register in my brain.  I was loading some things into a box, when the person on the news made a shocked sound.  I looked up just in time to see the image of a second plane crashing into the World Trade Center.  I remember the news people being just as shocked as I was and my brain trying to comprehend that this was real.  This was really happening.
That evening, I went with Roger to my sister Kari's house.  My parents were there also.  We spent the evening just staring at the tv and talking about how unbelievable that it was.
I'm glad that I didn't know anybody directly involved.  That would have been too much for me to handle.  A few years later, when we moved to Tremonton, I met a few people who knew of someone there or who was there.  It was interesting to hear their stories and think about how different that day was for them than it was for me.
Our neighbors the parkers and the Merritts told us their story.  The Parkers are Jeriann Merritt's parents.  The Parkers were in New York and scheduled to eat a brunch on the top of one of the World Trade Center buildings.  Luckily, they weren't in the building when it happened.  They weren't anywhere near all of the commotion.  They had no idea what had happened for quite some time.  As soon as they found out, they tried to call and let their families know they were all right, but they couldn't get through.  the phone lines were too busy.  At home, Jeriann, was watching what was happening in a panic, because she knew that is where her parents were supposed to be that day.  It was a really long day for them, not knowing if her parents were okay or not.
My visiting teacher had a really hard day when it happened, because two of her sons worked in the World Trade Center buildings.  She spent the whole day crying.  She was just sure she had lost both of her sons that day.  Miraculously, they both survived.  She told me about how they had both gotten out, but I can't remember those stories any more.
Here's some pictures of Alissa and I on this yucky anniversary of that horrible scary day.

Random Pictures

Here are a few pictures that I found with no date on them.  they were taken when we were living in the basement apartment in Brigham City.  So they were taken sometime in between September and October 2002.

Sleeping Baby Girl - September 7, 2002

Saturday - September 7, 2002
Our cute little sleeping baby.  I really can't get enough of her.
