Brinley's Valentine's Day Bag - February 13, 2015

Friday - February 13th
Brinley made this cute little bag at school.  She did a good job.  It looks really cute.  Brinley got lots of candy at school today.  She was so excited to show us what she got and to share her candy with us.  She knew that Parker and Alissa wouldn't be getting lots of candy like her, since neither of them are go to elementary school, so she was planning on sharing with everybody.  She was super nice.

I'm Sick and Brinley's Hair - February 11, 2015

Wednesday - February 11th
I'm sick.  I feel like I have been sick forever!  I'm so tired of being sick.Yesterday, I felt better, but tired all day, so I thought I was getting better, but today, I feel much worse.  I went to the doctor yesterday.  I was afraid that maybe I had pneumonia again.  Luckily it isn't pneumonia. I have bronchitis.  The doctor gave me an inhaler to help.  I've never used an inhaler before and it turns out, I'm terrible at it.  I tried it once, in the truck, on the way home.  I ended up not spraying it hard enough and not breathing it in like I should.  I decided to wait until we were home, to try it again.  when I tried it the second time, I sprayed hard enough and breathed in deeply, but my tongue got in the way and ended up getting burned by the spray.  After that, I was done!  I don't want to try it again.  The inhaler is not for me.
I withdrew Parker from the K12 program today.  That school was stressing me out.  Parker hated it and so did I.  The girls loved it when they tried it, and it worked great for them, but it is not for Parker.  When Roger and I were at Sam's Club the other day, I found a 4th grade basic curriculum book.  It had everything we needed in it.  the lessons are much shorter and I think this will work much better for Parker and I.  Parker and I used the book today and yesterday.  School is much better this way.
Brinley found a ponytail hair extension that I had.  She wanted to try it out.  She loves it!  She thinks it is the coolest thing ever.  She loves to wear it and look like she has really long hair.  She decided to wear it to school today.  Here she is with her cute hair, eating her breakfast before school.  she is a goofy girl.  We love our Brinley.

Chocolate Cake in a Mug - February 5, 2015

Thursday - February 5th
I was looking on Pinterest and was reminded of something I had pinned a while ago.  It was a recipe for cake in a mug.  I loved the idea of being able to make a yummy treat that serves one.  That way I don't have to stop myself from eating all the left overs.  Anyway, so I decided to try it out.  It did not go well.  It all spilled out over the sides of the mug.  I stopped the microwave as soon as I noticed.  The girls had come in wondering what I was doing.  They were excited to see if it worked, so they could have some too.  I cleaned up the microwave mess, then poured the remaining batter into another cup.  I figured with less batter, it wouldn't over flow.
It didn't overflow the second time.  It baked perfectly.  But there was another problem.  this was the most disgusting cake I have ever tried.  It was horrible!  The girls agreed.  We each took a bite, then dumped out the rest.  I forgot to take a picture of the finished product, so I took a picture of the aftermath.  It really was gross.  I will never make that recipe again.  I'm sure I'll try to make cake in a mug again.  I'll just have to find a better recipe.  Hopefully, next time will be much better.

Parker's Art - February 3, 2015

Tuesday - February 3rd
After we finished homeschooling today, Parker was bored.  He asked if he could paint.  I told him yes, but I didn't know what he should paint on.  I went upstairs for a little while and when I came back down, this is what I found.  Parker had come up with something to pain on with out me.  He is so creative.  I'm glad he was able to figure something out.

Alissa got to go Job shadowing for school today.  She loved it!  So, instead of going to school today, she went to Mckinley elementary to watch, learn, and help her former teacher, Ms Litchford.   She came home saying that now she is really sure that she wants to be a teacher when she grows up.  I'm glad she got to go and experience that.

Nonrepresentational Art - February 2, 2015

Monday - February 2nd
I was sick all last week.  The first of the week, I was weak and tired and had a sore throat, then it turned into a head cold.  It was a yucky week.  We didn't really do anything fun or exciting.
On Sunday, I was feeling better.  Roger's friend, Brian, his daughter, Delaney, and Brian's new girlfriend, Keri came over to watch the super bowl.  It was a lot of fun.  We had lots of yummy things to eat and we had a ton of fun visiting.
Today in Parker's schooling we learned about representational art (made to look like something real), abstract art (represents something real, but looks unreal, like a purple tree or something crazy like that), and nonrepresentational art (a design of shapes, lines, and colors, not made to look like anything specific).  Parker chose to make a nonrepresentational sculpture.

After Parker finished his schooling and the girls came home, their friends came over to play.  Here is Parker playing hockey with his friend Simon.
And Alissa playing Minecraft with her friend, Malaiyah.
