Sidewalk Paint -September 3, 2013

About Us

Roger and I met on a blind date. It was June 8, 2001. We really hit it off. We did not go out the next day, but we went out and saw each other everyday after that. There was only one day that we did not see each other after we met and that was the day that we broke up. It was a rough day, but we got back together the next day and everything was great again. We got engaged on August 22, 2001. Roger took me on a hike. We loved to go hiking. We would race up the mountain (I wish I still had that kind of energy!). We were racing up the mountain and we stopped to catch our breath at a spot that had a really beautiful view. We looked at the view for a while. I was ready to start running again and as I turned to start going, Roger grabbed a hold of my arm and said "wait". Then he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. We got married on November 29, 2001.

Not long after we got married, we found out that I was pregnant! Alissa was born on August 13, 2002. She was due in September, but my appendix ruptured when I was 35 weeks along and Alissa had to be born prematurely. She spent two weeks in the NICU at McKay Dee Hospital while her lungs developed. It was a very traumatic way to become parents, but very worth it.

In October 2003, we found out that I was pregnant again! When we had our first ultra sound, the doctor noticed something unusual with Parker's heart. He sent us to a specialist at McKay Dee Hospital. The specialist told us that there was some fluid around Parker's heart. Fluid around the heart usually means that there is a hole or some other abnormality, but they couldn't find anything wrong. We saw the specialist every two weeks until Parker was born. The fluid went away and they thought that maybe Parker would be born healthy and not have any problems. When they took him to the nursery they noticed that there was a problem. Blood wasn't flowing really well to the lower half of his body. He had a narrowing in his aorta. Parker had to be life flighted to Primary children's Hospital. They operated on him the next day and he came home with us two days later. Parker was due on Roger's birthday which is May 25th. He was born six days earlier, on May 19, 2004.

When Parker was ten months old, I got really sick. I was still nursing Parker and he started to act like he wasn't getting enough to eat. We gave him a bottle of formula and he drank it like he had been starving. That is when I decided to take a pregnancy test and we found out that I was pregnant again. Brinley was due on my birthday, which is October 21st. She was born six days earlier on October 15, 2005. Brinley's delivery was not traumatic at all. It was so nice to have a healthy baby that got to come home from the hospital at the same time as me.
