Thanksgiving Point - March 3, 2014

Monday - March 3, 2014
We decided that we needed to have another big adventure.  The kids didn't have school today, so we went out to play.  We took the kids to Thanksgiving Point.  We had checked online at some of the activities we could do there.  The most affordable thing was the farm.  It took forever to get there.  It was a forty minute drive to the front-runner, then an hour and 45 minutes on the front-runner.  When we finally got to our stop, we were starving for some lunch.  The train stopped and we immediately got up and started walking down the stairs to leave.  When we and another passenger reached the door, the train door wouldn't open and a worker told us that we took to long.  He had to call someone to get them to stop the train and let us off.  It says that they stop for a certain amount of time at each stop, but they definitely didn't follow their guidelines.  We did not take long to get down to the doors.  There should have been plenty of time for us to exit.  Anyways.... at least we were able to get off and we didn't have to ride to the next stop, catch another train, then head back.
After exiting the train, we went for a walk to Del Taco.  It was about 3 blocks from the train station.  The kids were excited that there was a play place, but bummed when they walked in and there was a big sign that said Alissa was too tall to play.  Alissa was really sad.  Then she ended  up dropping her food on herself and on the floor 2 times.  She did not enjoy that lunch at all, but she cheered up after we finished and left.  Thanksgiving point was about a block or 2 away in the other direction from the train station.  So, off we went.
When we first got there, we walked around and looked at all the animals.  It didn't take too long.  there really wasn't a lot to see.  The horses were pretty impressive though.
There were some fun little buildings for the kids to play in.  They didn't play for too long though, it got kind of boring.
We left the buildings and walked over to watch the guy feeding the horses, while we waited for someone to come and let the kids ride the ponies.  Here are the kiddos on their pony ride.
There was another building filled with things to know all about gardening.  The kids really liked it in, so we spent a long time sitting in there while the kids played.  After that, we stopped and looked at the cows, then we noticed them loading the wagon for a wagon ride.  We ran over there to take our ride.  The wagon ride was a big disappointment.  The ride didn't go through anything farm related.  It just took us out of the farm area, across the street, around the large, empty parking lot, then around the block on the road, and back in to the farm to let us off.  We didn't pass anything interesting or exciting.  Most of the times, when they offer wagon rides, they take you on a ride to look at things.  This was just a ride through nothing.  It was crazy to me that they even offer it when they have nothing to see.
After our wagon ride, we stopped in the garden building one more time, then we headed inside to see the cow area and a gift shop.  Then we decided to head home.
The ride home was really long and the front-runner ended up being sooo... crowded.  there was no room to sit in the newer areas, so we got stuck sitting in the old train.  The seats were much more comfortable there, but the windows were old and very small, and it was hot.  It was hard for me to keep from getting car sick.  Somehow I survived and made it back to the truck without being terribly sick.  Parker and Alissa fell asleep, both with the attitude that sleeping would help the ride go faster for them.  they both woke up pleased that they were able to sleep through almost the whole ride.  Brinley stayed awake and enjoyed having all the attention from both her parents.  she was being so cute and funny.
We were really happy to be back to the truck when it was all over and very happy when we got home.  We had a fun day, but it was exhausting.
