Bear Lake - Monday, August 12, 2013

We planned to go to Bear Lake last weekend, but we ended up not being able to go.  We knew we still wanted to go, we just weren't sure when we were going to be able to make it.  We decided on Sunday, before Roger left to work (He had to work overtime) that we would go to Bear Lake after Roger woke up.  I didn't realize that Roger had wanted me to wake him up early.  I figured he wanted to get as much sleep as he could before we went out playing.  So I let him sleep.  He woke up around 2:00pm.  He was bummed that I hadn't woke him up earlier.  We questioned whether or not we should still go because we wouldn't have as much time.  I wanted to go no matter what.  I thought it would be fun to be there later in the day and just stay until it got dark.  So we got ready and headed out the door.  It was really sunny and hot when we left our house, but as we drove and got closer and closer the weather turned cloudy and got colder and colder.  It warmed up as we came out of Logan canyon, but it was still cloudy.

I love when you can see the sun rays shining down through the clouds.
Roger posed for me to take his picture, so I took a few.
We had fun with the birds.  They swarmed us when they realized that we had food.  It was exciting, funny, and a little scary.  Then Alissa and Roger chased them away and that was really funny.

We decided that we were having too much fun, so we wanted to stay the night somewhere and play again tomorrow.  Here's what we saw on our drive to Montpelier, Idaho.
 At the Park Motel.
 Walking around Montpelier, Idaho.
It freaked us out a little when we were walking down the street and looked up to see people sitting in a pool and looking at us.

Tuesday, August 13, 2013 - Alissa's 11th birthday.  On the way to Montpelier last night, we drove past a playground that looked like a lot of fun, since it had a merry-go-round.  We decided that would be the perfect place to eat breakfast.  That way we could eat and the kids could play for a little while.  It was funny that it is named Dingle Park.  But we were disappointed that we didn't get to play on the playground, because somebody was working on it, fixing up the playground equipment.
When we got to the lake there were just a few cars there.  It was fun to get there way before all of the crowds of people came.  We drove a long ways down the beach, so even when it did get busy we would still be far enough away and out of the crowd.

Roger had the brilliant idea to put our chairs out in the lake to sit and relax.  It was so nice sitting in the lake and relaxing all day.  The only bummer was that in the morning, while I was helping everybody get their sunblock on, I forgot to put sunblock on my face.  I thought I had sunblock on my face, so I didn't worry about it all day.  I laid out and just soaked up the sun, knowing that I was protected and I wouldn't burn.  about an hour or two before we left, it clicked in my brain, that I hadn't put sunblock on my face.  I was about to get my face, when Parker came over and needed help.  I helped him then I forgot to finish what I had been doing.  so at the end of our long day out in the sun, my face was really red.

On our way home from Bear Lake, we passed 2 roll over car accidents.  The first accident was on our way into Logan canyon.  It looked like someone driving in the passing lane crossed the line a little and crashed into oncoming traffic.  It looked really bad and scary.  The police were just getting there as we were passing, so it had just happened.  When we got in Logan Canyon, we came upon a guy driving his motorcycle really slowly on the side of the road.  He was wobbling a lot as he went.  We were wondering what the heck that guy was doing.  All the cars had to slow down and watch for oncoming traffic as they tried to pass him.  As we passed him, Roger noticed the guy had a flat tire.  So we pulled off the road as soon as there was a shoulder.  We waited for the guy and Roger waved him over.  The guy said, he had tried to get help for a while, but nobody would stop for him.  So he decided his only option was to risk it and try to make it out of the canyon on his own.  So he was pretty happy that Roger stopped for him.  We loaded his bike into the back of the truck and drove the guy to his house in Logan.  The guy was very thankful for our help and he gave us $10.00 to help pay for gas.
After leaving Logan, we passed another roll over car accident on the pass between Logan and Tremonton.
