Happy Easter - April 5, 2015

Sunday - April 5th
It's Easter!  The kids had a fun Easter morning.  They woke up around 7:00am.  They were excited to get downstairs and find Easter eggs and their Easter baskets.  Alissa found hers first.  Her basket was hiding in the washing machine.  She walked straight to the laundry room first thing.  I was like, "What the what?"  She said that when she first looked, she didn't see anything and was going to go search somewhere else, but when I made a comment, she knew she had to be in the right place, so she searched a little more and managed to find it.

Brinley found hers next. Her and Parker were having a hard time, so they wanted to play hot and cold while they found it.  Brinley's was in the oven.
And Parker's was in the closet with the water heater.
The first thing Parker noticed was that he got some water balloons.  He was so excited about that.
They were all so excited to see what they got, then search for their eggs.  I didn't let them find all of the eggs, so they could have another Easter egg hunt with Benji.

Parker and Brinley were excited to fill up some water balloons.  Luckily, it was a really nice day outside.

When Benji got here, the kids were excited to help him do the Easter Egg hunt.  they were also, confused.  The plan was that they would all do the Easter egg hunt when Benji got here.  They were confused and thought the Easter egg hunt was only for Benji.  So, they helped him and went through the house and gave every egg they found to Benji.  He had a bucket that was overflowing.  The kids were excited for him, but I could see that they were feeling a little jealous that he got so many and they hardly had any.  I explained to them, the mistake they had made.  When Andrea saw how much candy he had, she insisted that he share with the other kids.  So, Parker grabbed his bucket and they put half of the eggs in there.  So, it all worked out.  Benji was really cute looking for the eggs.  He is a cute kid.
After hunting for eggs, Brinley, Parker, and Benji went outside to blow bubbles.  Benji thought it was so fun.  He loved the bubbles.  It made him laugh a lot.
We decided to go play at the Bothwell park for a little while.  Parker and Brinley were excited to show Benji all the fun things on the playground.  Roger, Dan, Alissa, and I all walked over to play basketball for a little bit.  we played a really long game of 7 on the line.  Roger won.  After that, we played one game of lightening, then we went back over to the playground to watch the kids play.

Brinley found the Kool-aid packets and water bottles in the back of the truck.  So, she got them out and was excited to fix herself a drink.  The boys walked over to the bowery and noticed that there is a vending machine.
Dan gave Parker a dollar, so he could try and get a treat.  Something was wrong with the machine.  Parker tried for a long time but it wouldn't take his dollar.
The girls came over and took turns trying also.
The boys got bored and headed over to the baseball field, while the girls stayed and kept trying.
Finally, it took their dollar and they were able to get a candy bar!
While the girls were still trying, Roger and Dan told us about the way they tricked the vending machine when they were in school and they got it to give them lots of candy for free.  Later, when we were getting ready to leave, a couple of boys came to the park and tried to get some candy.  They vending machine wasn't so stingy with them.  It took their dollar, gave them candy, then gave them their dollar back.  They were excited and were trying to get as much candy as they could.  I thought it was ironic, that Roger had just been telling us how they tricked the vending machine and took more than they should and as we walked past those boys who were taking advantage of the broken machine and getting as much candy as they could, Roger stopped to remind them that what they were doing is dishonest and maybe they should stop.  I'm glad Roger said something, I just thought it was ironic, that's all.  The boys agreed that they should stop, so they took what they had gotten and left.

Parker thought it was fun to run the bases kicking up as much dirt as he could.
Benji was excited to play.  When everybody came over and got started playing, Benji felt left out.  He stopped what he was doing and stood there with his head down, making the cutest little pouty face I have ever seen.  It was so cute!  I didn't get to take a picture of him making the face.  I wasn't fast enough.  When we saw his face, Dan made sure he was included and he felt happy again.  We had a lot of fun playing baseball.  We started out using the white ball.  It wasn't heavy and you couldn't throw it very far.  I thought it made the game kind of funny.  the ball never went the way you would have expected it to go.  I found myself laughing a lot at how funny it was.  It was annoying for them to play with, so they switched to a different ball and the game was more fun for everyone.

After we all tired of playing baseball, we went back over to the playground for a while.  We really like this playground.  They have a lot of fun playground equipment.

Alissa was being funny.  she found a dead Box Elder Bug.  She drew a head stone for it and wrote RIP.  Then she drew a circle around it.  She wrote, "Dead Box Elder bug" and drew an arrow pointing for it.  This is her sad face as she is pretending to mourn over the dead bug.  There were a ton of Box Elder bugs at the park.  They were a little annoying, but we got used to them and they were easy to ignore.
We came home from the park and ate a late lunch.  We had a ton of food left over from yesterday, so we enjoyed that.  We relaxed and watched tv for a little bit, then the Sorensons headed home.  We had a really nice day.
