PreThanksgiving Dinner - November 23, 2014

Sunday - November 23rd
Roger's work gives him a large turkey each Thanksgiving.  Since, we pretty much always, go to someone else's house for Thanksgiving, we decided to start a tradition of having a preThanksgiving dinner, so we can enjoy a little family time and the turkey from Roger's work.  Back in 2012, we had family come to our house for Thanksgiving.  Before that, it was Thanksgiving 2002 that we had family come to our place.  So, if things keep up the way they are going, we don't have to worry about having a Thanksgiving at our house until 2022.
I told Alissa to take some pictures of our fun, while I finished getting dinner ready.

Before we ate, I took a few pictures.  I really like this new tradition.  we did it for the first time last year.  I love having our small little family Thanksgiving dinner each year.

A Late Birthday Gift - November 21, 2014

Friday - November 21, 2014
My friend, Tammy Beverly said that she wanted to take me out for my birthday.  We have been trying to get together for the last two weeks to make this happen.  Today we were finally able to do it.  She said she wanted to take me out to eat and just have a little day out.  It was such a nice day.  she took me to get my hair done first.  I've been wanting to cut my hair for a while now.  My hair was all the way down to my bum and I was do for a good hair cut.  The stylist was hesitant to cut it so short like I asked.  I wanted it cut to my chin.  She kept asking if I was sure.  I assured her that my hair grows really fast.  I cut my hair every 3 to 4 years.  Every time, I let it grow really long, then I get bored with my long hair and chop it all off.  This cycle has been going on since I was 20.  Anyways, so here's my hair on the floor after being chopped off.  I love my new hair cut.  I love short hair, because it is so easy to wash, style, and take care of.  I'm very happy with my new haircut!
I feel bad that I didn't think to take a before and after picture of my hair.  I don't love pictures of me, so it doesn't occur to me to turn the camera on myself very often.
After we got our hair done, we went out to eat at the Fire House.  I love that restaurant!  The food was really yummy.  After that, we headed to Walmart to go shopping.  Tammy bought me some clothes.  It was such a fun day.  I loved it!  I feel bad that I'm not a better friend.  I've never done anything like that for any of my friends.  That was the nicest thing ever.  I loved our day today!
Here is the hat that I crocheted today.
 Saturday - November 22nd
Here is the hat that I had to work on today.  I'm getting a little tired, and I have a few more days to do all of the hats that I need to finish, so I only did one hat today and yesterday.  I'm really going to have to buckle done soon and whip up as many hats as I can in a few days to get this all done.

Decorating For Christmas - November 19, 2014

Wednesday - November 19th
I couldn't wait to decorate for Christmas this year.  I tried hard to hold out until after Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't do it.  I've been watching Christmas movies while I've been crocheting and It just doesn't feel right without the Christmas tree set up.  So, we did it.  We put up our Christmas decorations today.  I love Christmas time!

Brinley was tired and fell asleep quickly after we finished decorating.  I love picture of my little ones sleeping.  They are so cute and peaceful.
Alissa finished her final sewing project in school today.  She is so talented.  She did an excellent job.  Also, Parker and I went shopping today while the girls were at school.  We went to buy a few things to help us decorate for Christmas tonight.  While we were at the store, we saw this fun little massager and some really nice back scratchers.  I couldn't resist getting them for us.  Alissa is showing the camera our new massager.
 Thursday - November 20th
Alissa's friend, Jamie came over early this morning so that I could do her hair before school.  I think it turned out really cute.  All I did was the braid.  She did everything else.  She fixed the top part of her hair and she added the bow.  I took a picture, so she could see how it looked.

Alissa's Hat - November 18, 2014

Tuesday - November 18th
I feel like all I do anymore is crochet.  Everyday it's crochet, crochet, crochet.  I'm surprised that I'm not tired of it yet.  The thing I'm starting to tire of is not being able to do my own thing and crochet whatever hat I feel like.  All the crocheting I do is to fill orders.  I keep seeing really cute hats that I want to try, but I can't until I fill all of these orders.  I love all of these orders, because, all of the money I make from my hats is going to pay for our Christmas this year.  So, the more the merrier.  Here are some more pictures of the hats I've been working on.
Alissa has caught the crocheting bug also.  She spent the day working on her owl hat.  She is getting so good at crocheting.
Brinley, as always, was being goofy.  She makes me laugh all the time.
Here's our handsomest little guy, Parker.  He cannot get enough of his Minecraft.  He loves to watch Minecraft YouTube videos to get ideas for when he plays the game.  Parker is so creative when he plays that game.  I'm always so surprised and impressed by the things he comes up with.
Here is Alissa's finished owl hat!  She did an excellent job!

Our Little Artists - November 16, 2014

Sunday - November 16th
Alissa pulled out her wooden birdhouse and paint that she got for her birthday.  She did a really good job painting it.  Parker and Brinley wanted to do some painting also.  Luckily, Parker got a lot of paint in his art kit from his school.  We also have a lot of boxes from all the books that Parker's school sent.  So, Brinley and Parker decided to paint some of the boxes using Parker's paint.

I made a cat hat tonight.  I really don't like it.  Hopefully the person who ordered it will enjoy it.

More Hats - November 15, 2014

Saturday - November 15, 2014
I am a crocheting machine!  I spend all of my free time crocheting, trying to fill all these orders for my hats.  I am so surprised by how many orders I have gotten.  I crocheted and wore a lot of different hats to the bus stop last year and nobody said a word, except for the kids at the bus stop.  I gave a lot of hats away last year.  Here are the hats I finished today.

Another Snowy Morning and More Hats - November 14, 2014

Friday - November 14th
Parker walked with us to the bus stop again today.  We love being out in the snow.  I really wish there was more of it.  I really want to have a super snow filled winter.  The snow just makes everything look so beautiful and it is so much fun to play in.  Parker looks really funny wearing his Christmas hat over his ski mask.
Here are the hats I made today.  I like the monkey hats.  I think they turned out really cute.
Alissa got to have her friend, Malaiyah over for a sleep over tonight.  They were being super goofy and they tried on my hats to make sure I made them the right size.

Snow! - November 13, 2014

Thursday - November 13th
We finally got some snow!  I made a new hat that I love.  I love this turkey hat.  I think it is so cute.  Brinley likes it also, so she decided to wear it to school.  She was super excited to go out in the snow, so she decided to wait outside for a little while, before it was time to walk to the bus stop.

Parker got ready and walked to the bus stop with us.  We are so excited to finally have some snow.
Parker wanted to stay out and play a little longer after we got back from the bus stop.
I am so surprised at how many orders I have gotten for my hats.  Here are the two hats I finished today.

Brinley's Hair - November 11, 2014

Tuesday - November 11th
Brinley let me do her hair for school today.  I love it when they kids let me do their hair.  she looked on Pinterest for a hairstyle and this is the hairstyle she chose.  She loved it at first, but by the time school was over she said it was starting to hurt her head.
Here are some more hats that I've made.  I've been a crocheting machine lately.  I just keep getting orders for my hats.  It is so nice!  Heavenly Father is really blessing us.  We weren't going to have any money for Christmas.  Now, because of all these hats selling like they are, we are going to get to have presents at Christmas.  We decided that all the crocheting money will go toward our Christmas.
Yesterday, Alissa came home from school with some super sad news.  She came right in and told me first thing.  I was already emotional from my crying on Sunday night, so I didn't handle this news well.  I just burst into tears again.  Alissa has a friend named Tanya.  She is the sweetest girl ever.  When I first met her, I thought, wow, she has been through a lot.  Her mom passed away when she was 8 years old.  She is the youngest of a large family.  I just couldn't imagine how hard it must be to lose your mom at such a young age.  I felt really bad for her, but meeting her dad and seeing how good he was with all of his children put my mind at ease.  Well, over the weekend, she lost her dad.  He passed away on Saturday.  He was feeling sick and had been feeling sick for about a week.  Anyway, he just fell over and died.  I feel so horrible for Tanya.  I can hardly handle it.  This makes me so sad.  This is the second family that I know that has lost both of their parents this year.  It is too much sadness for me to handle.  Alissa said that Tanya's Aunt didn't want Tanya to tell anybody.  They want to just be left alone.  It makes me so sad.  This is a sad way to end this post, but this is all I can think about lately.  My heart hurts so bad for Tanya.

Alissa's Sewing Project - November 9, 2014

Sunday - November 9, 2014
Alissa has started sewing at school.  she is loving it.  This was her first project.  I'm so jealous of the cool sewing machine that she gets to use.  I wish I had a sewing machine that could do all of that.  Parker couldn't just stand back and let Alissa be in the picture by herself.  He's just funny like that.  Also, here is another picture of our new chair.  I'm just so happy to not have to sit in that horrible awful old computer chair.
So, 5 years ago, today, is the day my mom passed away.  It is so crazy that it has been 5 years.  I miss her so much.  the hurt and longing for her never goes away.  You just learn to deal with it and you learn to live without her.  You learn how to take care of the things you relied on her for.  It is just so sad to have to do that.  I wish she could still be here with us.  I did pretty good today.  I was happy and I didn't cry all day.  I did my best not to think about it.  At the end of the day, as I put the kids to bed, it started to hit me.  I read stories to the kids until Parker and Brinley were asleep.  After they fell asleep, Alissa asked if me and her could just talk for a little bit before she went to bed.  We ended up talking about my mom and of course, I started to cry.  I was telling Alissa about how much I loved to talk to my mom.  I loved our phone conversations.  I just really miss talking to her.  Then Alissa pointed out that I have her to talk to know.  I realized how much I love talking to Alissa and what a blessing that is.  Then I thought about the friendship I had with my mom and now the friendship that I have with Alissa.  All of that made me burst into tears.  I'm so happy to have my Alissa to talk with.  I am so blessed to have such wonderful children that take such good care of me and suddenly become so grown up when I'm having a hard time and I need them.

New Chair and Brinley and Jamie - November 8, 2014

Saturday - November 8, 2014
Since the blessings from paying our tithing have started coming in, we had enough money to do a big grocery shopping trip.  Roger and I went to Sam's Club today.  It was so nice to be able to do a big grocery shopping trip.  We have felt like we were starving.  It has been rough.  But, we are so happy that it is better and we have been overwhelmed with how much Heavenly father has blessed us.  Our computer chair is broken,  It feels like it is going to fall apart and throw you to the ground at any moment when you sit on it.  So, we have been needing to get a new chair.  Today, we were finally able to do that!  So, here is the picture of our new computer chair.
Alissa's friend, Jamie, was over here again today.  And, again, they got a hold of my phone.  Here are the pictures they took.  Alissa isn't in any of these pictures because she was over at her friend, Malaiyah's house.  Jamie and Malaiyah had a falling out over a roll yesterday.   Since they are mad at each other, Jamie didn't feel like she could go over there to play.  so, she chose to stay and hang out with us instead.
The roll incident that happened yesterday was kind of funny.  Jamie is an only child and she is not used to having to share.  Especially food.  She does not share food!  I can relate to that.  I was not an only child, but I did not share food.  That was a hard thing for me to get over, when I met Roger.  Our first little tiff in our relationship was over a milkshake that he bought for me, then tried to drink a little of it.  It's sad that I was so bothered at the thought of giving him even a little taste.  But, I'm over that now.  I've learned to share my food.
Back to the story.  Jamie loves my rolls.  I didn't make more rolls yesterday, because I just wasn't feeling up to it.  But there were still a few rolls left in the pan.  Brinley and Malaiyah's younger sister, Tiernynn get home from school about 30 minutes before Alissa, Jamie, and Malaiyah.  Tiernynn and Brinley both wanted a roll.  I told them they could have one, but realized too late, that there wouldn't be enough for Alissa and her friends.  I had some cookies to offer everybody, but not rolls.  since there was one roll left and Jamie seems to be the one who loves the rolls the most, I decided to let her have the last roll.  When they got here, I explained the roll situation as I gave them their cookies.  I told Jamie she could have the last roll.  Malaiyah, thinking it would be a funny joke, ran over and quickly bit into the roll.  It was funny, but Jamie didn't think so.  Jamie got really mad and chased after Malaiyah.  When Jamie caught up to Malaiyah, she slapped her across the face.  Of course, Malaiyah didn't think that was funny at all.  That wasn't funny and wasn't very cool.  Malaiyah and Tiernynn went home and Jamie came in here too cool off.  she explained to me how she does not share food and she does not feel sorry for what she did.  I shared my stories of not sharing food and how things are much better since I learned to share.  She said she will never change.  So, that was fun.  Hopefully, they will make up quickly or walking to and waiting at the bus stop is going to be really akward for the three of them for a while.
