Easter and Shelley's Birthday- March 27, 2016

Sunday - March 27th
We had a relaxing Easter morning.  Parker and Brinley were both up in the night, around 3:00am.  They both said they were having a hard time sleeping.  They finally fell back asleep, but because of that, neither of them woke up early.  Roger and I were up before any of the kids.  They all got up shortly after us.  They were excited to look for their baskets and Easter eggs.  I hid the eggs much harder than I normally do.  I'm sure we'll be finding eggs for days to come.  I didn't hide any real eggs.  They are all plastic eggs filled with candy.  I just thought that it would be a nice, fun surprise to have on a normal day, if we didn't find them all today.  The kids are used to them being hidden pretty easy.  Even after I told them they need to move things to find them, they still missed a lot of them.  They did find quite a few though.  Here is a compilation of the videos I took this morning.
The kids were really tired when they got out of bed.  You can tell by the look on their faces as they sat waiting for all of them to be out of bed and ready, before they could start looking.

Parker helped me pick out these fun fans.  They are just cool.  Parker knows they are girly, but he just didn't care.  He just wanted to have one to play with also.  I think they're fun.  I wish I would have gotten one for myself.

They got mini kites in their baskets this year.  They normally get big ones, use them once, then they get lost, tangled up, or broken.  I thought the mini ones would last longer.  Parker pulled his out and decided that it was small enough to fly inside.  He went to the heater vent to fly it there.  I thought that was a funny idea.

After all our Easter fun, I got to work on decorating the cake I baked last night for Shelley's birthday.  We went to Linda's house to have an Easter/Surprise Birthday party for Shelley.
It has been over a year since I've been to Linda's house.  I can't believe it's been that long.  I feel really bad that I let that happen.  Roger's family and my family haven't been having a lot of get togethers like they used to.  We got out of the habit of going to visit family.  I don't want to let that happen again.  I will do my best to visit family as much as possible from now on.  I don't like going so long with out seeing them.
We were standing around, waiting for Shelley to get here.  I took a picture of Missy and Linda. In the first one they looked at me and smiled, but in the second one Linda smiled big and flashed a peace sign.  I thought about how much more exciting the party looked from one picture to the next.  The peace sign picture makes it look like we are having a super fun time.  So, I wanted to get another picture making it look like we are having the best time ever.
I asked them to look like they are having so much fun partying.  They decided to blow into their party favors, but it didn't have the affect I was going for, so I told them to try again.  I told them to smile big and look like they are laughing hysterically.  I gave an example of how they should look.  They thought that was pretty funny and they all cracked up.  That's when I snapped my picture.
Doesn't it look like they are having the best time ever?  That's what I was going for.

Shelley had no idea we were having a party for her.  She thought that Linda, Dave, and Dad were taking her out to dinner.  She was so surprised when she walked in the door.  It was so fun to surprise her.  After Shelley came and we yelled surprise, we let the kids go outside for an Easter egg hunt.  Parker and Mathew didn't want to.  They were both upstairs playing video games.
Kristy had her phone and was taking pictures also.  That's how I have some pictures with me in them.  I'm never in the pictures because I'm always the one taking them.  I made Shelley pose for a selfie with me so I could be in at least one picture.  That was before I realized Kristy was taking pictures.  Good times.

Me and Shelley's selfie.  Bad timing.  Shelley had been smiling but I didn't manage to catch that on camera.
Elizabeth and Kristin are funny.  I don't know what started this.

It's so crazy to see all my nieces and nephews so grown up.  That's what happens when you don't see each other very often.
All of Kristy's kids had colorful hair.  I liked it.
Missy didn't realize that I could zoom in so closely.  She's funny.

Alissa saw me going to take a picture, so she quickly made a face.  She was embarrassed when she saw how her picture turned out.  She is beautiful and goofy.
We had a yummy barbecue and it was a nice day, so we ate outside in the backyard.

Linda has a selfie booth.  She is wanting one for her wedding business.  This one is too flimsy, so they are going to make one and she said that we can have this one.  Parker and Brinley were excited.  They had so much fun trying out all the props and different backgrounds.  They didn't save any of the pictures they took, so I have no pictures to show you with the background.  I slipped my camera in to take these.  They were loving it.
Shelley opened her presents, we sang Happy Birthday, then had some cake and ice cream.  It was yummy.  My dad made homemade strawberry ice cream and Linda had some ice cream sandwiches.  Luckily the kids all wanted ice cream sandwiches, so there was more homemade ice cream for the adults.  I love homemade ice cream.  I really need to get an ice cream maker.

Kristy starts her new job this week.  She needs a good picture of herself for her badge.  she said that she was frustrated trying to find one because she feels like there are no good pictures of her.  I told her I would take some pictures of her and we could see if any of those would work.  I had her sit out in the grass, then I climbed up on the picnic table by the house and used my zoom lense to blur the background.  I love the way the pictures turned out.  She said she like them to.  Hopefully she really did like them and she can use one of these for her badge.

The kids played volleyball with no net for a little bit, then they all went inside and got water guns for a water fight.  The water fight went on for a long time.  They were all having so much fun.
Linda also had packs of bubbles for the kids to blow, but they were all too busy having a water fight.  It seems like I saw Mathew play with the bubbles for a little bit, but the rest of the time, the only ones I saw blowing bubbles were my sisters.

Every time Missy came out to the water fight, it seems like they all ganged up on her.  It was funny.

The water fight had finally ended and we were sitting at the picnic table talking when the funniest thing happened.  A big, poofy, black feather came floating toward Shelley.  It seemingly came out of nowhere and surprised us.  She leaned back and it headed toward me.  I moved over and then leaned back and it went toward Linda.  Linda had seen us reacting to something, but she wasn't sure what it was.  the way we moved away from it made her think it was a bee or something.  After it passed me, it headed toward Linda.  She saw it and thought it was a really large bee.  She quickly tried to get away.  Instead of getting up and running away, somehow she managed to slide out of her seat and fall.  I wish I could explain it better.  It was hilarious!  Especially after she realized that it was just a feather.  We were all laughing so hard are tummies hurt.  On the way home, I started think about it and ended up bursting in to laughter again on the drive home.  The kids thought I was crazy.  I'm having a hard time not laughing as I'm writing this.  It was just really funny how it all went down down.
The whole party was lots of fun.  I'm so glad I got to go and spend time with family.  I really miss them.  Here's a compilation of all the videos I took at the party.
